The brief for the site was to look at options to either renovate or replace the existing building on a beautiful landscaped site on the edge of London.
Coupdeville developed two designs for the project and engaged extensively with the Local Authority and the London Design Panel in formulating the proposals.
The first scheme looked at removing all the non original extension to the building which was an Octagonal dance Hall and inserting a podium layer below containing all the accommodation.
The second scheme proposed a radical new building designed to be carbon Zero through innovative environmental strategies including a cooling labyrinth and heat towers.
The scheme used the steep gradient of the site to present a modest building form the entrance level that then takes residents down a dramatic stair case into a series of glass fronted arced spaces.
The new build proposal was decided on further to both receiving planning and is currently being built.
